Is Part-Time MBA a Lucrative Solution for Working Professionals?

Management education in India has become quite popular in the recent years. Nowadays, MBA is considered as an added advantage. Any qualification followed with an MBA Degree enhances your job’s prospects. This is why not only the younger generation but experienced and mid-career professionals are also choosing to pursue MBA courses just to give a boost to their existing career.

However, is it really worth it to put your existing career on hold and go for a full-time MBA? The decision solely depends upon your personal choice and your career aspiration. Full-time MBA will require full dedication and rigorous research work, which is not possible if you’re a working professional.

Still if you want to give your present career a back seat for the time, you could certainly go for a full-time MBA. But, if you’ve just started growing in your career and do not want to leave your job abruptly, pursuing part-time MBA is the right choice for you. Through part-time MBA, you can expand your knowledge base. It demands lesser time and is also cost-effective than a regular MBA.

To get started, you need to find out the best-suited university that offers part-time management courses in your preferred cities of India. But before seeking admission for part-time MBA, you must consider the following points to select the right university of the country.

Brand Name:

Select the university that holds a high reputation in the country as these have structured syllabi and provide top quality education. Moreover, their strong reputation in the industry would add weight to your resume and you’ll be considered by many employers in future.

Credibility:

Make sure that you select the course which has a huge repute in the industry that you work in. Also the selection to these courses must be based on certain eligibility criteria and your experience. Never opt for a program in which almost every individual seeks admission and get enrolled easily as this will decrease the worthiness of the course as a whole and would not benefit you in the long run.

Location:

Pick a university that is within your reach so that you can attend classes easily after a long, hectic day at work.

Timing:

Select the institute that offers classes in the evening or on weekends so that you can easily attend them without being late or only attending them on irregular basis.

Expenditure:

While enrolling yourself in any institute of your choice do consider your budget firsthand. Collect all the information related to the course like total course fee, per semester fee and other associated expenses. Think through each and every point carefully and make your decision wisely.

Admission Process:

Admission process of the institute should neither be too difficult nor too simple. In most of the institutes, there is a Common Written Test for admission followed by Group Discussion and Interview. Applicants who qualify the written test are being called for GD & subsequently personal interview. On the basis of these procedures, final selections are being made.

Conclusion:

Part-time MBA may not be considered as reliable and as effective as the full-time MBA, but it will be very useful in future, especially for working professionals. Applicability in case of part-time MBA is much more than full-time because you have the opportunity to apply your theoretical knowledge at your workplace and grasp more knowledge with time. The biggest advantage of this type of study is that you get to learn at your pace and without troubling your stable life at work.
